Painter's Statement

I paint in acrylic in the style of Expressionism with abstraction. I try to keep abstraction to a minimum, not to loose a recollection with nature (be it a landscape or the human figure). I start out to depict an emotion and convey emotion through the use of color and trying to keep a sketch quality to my work with an awareness of lines and curves. I try constantly to paint with emotional experimentation, using bright colors, and a constant awareness of brushstrokes to stimulate my imagination to create a glimpse of the mystery and beauty in the world that can be bland and not evident at times. And in the never ending learning process, hopefully connect at times with someone else’s senses and feelings.
